Each water gets two scores. Catch estimates how likely you are to catch fish, combining live or projected flows, water temperature (USGS where available, modeled otherwise), seasonal hatch activity, air weather, and typical fishing pressure. Experience estimates trip quality regardless of catching, combining our curated scenery and solitude ratings, outdoor weather (different curve than fishing weather — favors warm, sunny, calm days for being outside), and an access-effort bonus that rewards hike-in waters. Use the "I'm here to" slider above to blend the two for ranking — slide left for catch-focused, right for scenery-focused. The skill picker adjusts Catch scoring (Beginner boosts approachable water, Expert favors technical water). Each card shows the blended score with components inline. The 3-day outlook reuses the same formula for days after your selected day. Date chips show the forecast high/low at your location. Confidence: ¹ higher, ² moderate, ³ lower. Flow notes: ⁴ observed, ⁵ projected.
